World Cup 2006: Temper Tantrums

Did anybody watch the England – Sweden match last night ? [ :-)
Well, what did you think of that big baby’s tantrums after being substituted?
The English sports commentator on ITV thought it was hilarious but I’m afraid I didn’t see the funny side at all. Wayne Rooney is after all a grown man (I will not refer to him as an adult) and should know how to behave like one instead of throwing his toys about and pouting like a 2 year old. Grow up, you big girl’s blouse, and start acting like a man.

And while we are on the subject … did you see the news report I saw, just before they went to Germany? They were reporting on Rooney’s fitness for the world cup and showing all the things he was able to do, like run and dribble (like a baby perhaps?)

BUT the one thing he was unable to do was spare some time for a young fan.

As Rooney returned to the changing room a young fan ran up to him with his autograph book but even though he tapped Rooney on the arm and pulled at his sleeve he was unable to illicit a response and was left with a very bemused look on his face. A few seconds is all it would have taken to sign an autograph . You would have thought too that someone would have made sure he stopped, even just for the sake of good publicity. Did any of the reporters comment on this? NO WAY – sorry we can’t have any bad publicity about golden boy, after all the whole of the World Cup is revolving round him. But I am pretty sure that one young fan was left with a sour taste.

I wonder how the rest of the England team feel about the publicity centered on him, it would appear that all of these world class players cannot possibly succeed without big baby Rooney.
God help them is all I can say.
