Orb, The - Little Fluffy Clouds

What were the skies like when u were young?
They went on for ever ..... when I lived in Arizona the skies
always had little fluffy clouds and .. they were long and clear and there
were lots of stars, at night.

And when it rain it would all turn..... they were beautiful, the most
beautiful skies as a matter of fact, the sunsets were purple and red and
yellow and on fire and the clouds would catch the colours everywhere,
its neat because I used to look at them all the time when i was little. You don't see that.
You might still see it in the desert.

The Orb is a British electronic music band known for pioneering the genres of ambient techno and ambient house. The Orb is heavily influenced by dub music, and much of its output has consistently been in the electronic dub category, more so than ambient house.

"Little Fluffy Clouds" is a single released by the ambient house group The Orb in 1990. It is remembered for being one of the most commercially successful ambient releases. In April 1991 it was released on the debut album The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld. It was re-released several times with different b-sides, which often included remixes of the original track.

The track is well known for its sample of a woman recounting her childhood watching clouds in Arizona. The sample was apparently from an episode of the PBS-TV children's program Reading Rainbow, containing Rickie Lee Jones's dialogue with Levar Burton:

Burton: "What were the skies like when you were young?"
Jones: "They went on forever – They - When I - We lived in Arizona, and the skies always had little fluffy clouds in 'em, and they were long, clear, and there were lots of stars, at night. And when it would rain, they would all turn - They were beautiful, the most beautiful skies as a matter of fact. Um, the sunsets were purple and red and yellow and on fire, and the clouds would catch the colors everywhere. That's uh, neat cause I used to look at them all the time, when I was little. You don't see that. You might still see it in the desert."
