I was surprised to find this photo on the BBC web site of the Arcadia in Portrush on a clear evening photographed by John Richmond because I had thought it had been demolished long ago. Further research shows that in 2001 Contractors moved onto the two acre site of the Arcadia in Portrush to undertake a £650,000 scheme including a play area and the renovation of one of the resort's most famous buildings.
Once famous as a dancing hotspot, which hosted some of the country's most celebrated showbands, The Arcadia fell into decline. The imaginative scheme has given it a new lease of life, creating a role for the building and the surrounding area. Coleraine Borough Council
