In case of emergency ... break glass

I saw this ad this morning and the caption for a blog post was running through my head but all the while I was thinking "I shouldn't condone vandalism" but that's what their ad campaign suggested to me ...
... then this evening I came across this other ad, just round the corner from the first, and boy was I relieved - I was supposed to think as I did after all, phew!

First cup of the day

A quiet relaxing moment with a nice cup of coffee before facing what the day in the office has to throw at you.

Piazza Castello?

No, it's not a piazza in some Italian city but the old Provincial Bank building on Royal Avenue - which now houses a Tesco store. But .. I see Lord Belmont In Northern Ireland has already posted about this a few months ago )c: and also more on the Victorian Web

The Provincial Bank of Ireland was renamed the Allied Irish Bank in 1982, and then became the First Trust Bank in 1994, when AIB merged its Northern Ireland operations with those of TSB. wikipedia

God, it's cold out there - let's all huddle in this doorway.

This was the scene outside JJB Sports on Royal Avenue about 5.20 this evening. With the S.W.A.T. team gathered in the doorway of the Benefit Shop next to JJB Sports I thought they were preparing for a seige or an armed stand-off but apparently what happened was that an explosive device partially exploded in the shop during the night and the bomb squad were called in about 9 o'clock this morning. So!, why such a big security presence tonight? Perhaps they were just collecting their dole money (c: or maybe they were all having a laugh at such an ineffectual device.
