Coming home recently I had the car radio tuned to one of our local radio stations and was surprised when they played a track by Flossie Malavialle from her new CD of Jacques Brel songs. So, of course, I immediately googled her and found the widget which has been on the side bar for the past couple of weeks. The really surprising thing is to hear her speaking with a Geordie accent (no bad thing).Flossie Malavialle, born and raised in Nimes in southern France, arrived in Britain five years ago on a year's teaching exchange. She'd asked for Edinburgh, they sent her to Grangefield comprehensive, in Stockton.
"Maybe it was my accent," she supposes disingenuously. "Scotland, Stockton, perhaps they sounded the same." This is the North East
