X-Men movie breaks Da Vinci Code

The third and final part of the X-Men trilogy - X-Men: The Last Stand - took £7.09million in its opening weekend, topping the UK and Ireland box office and causing The Da Vinci Code to drop to second place in the chart after just one week in top spot.


Fury after magazine unmasks Lordi

A Finnish magazine Seiska - or 7 Days - published a picture of Eurovision winner Lordi's lead singer's face without a mask and has caused public outrage. The band who never appear without their outlandish outfits guard their identities closely. Subscriptions have been cancelled by many readers and advertising campaigns have been cancelled by at least two companies.

Graduate sequel.

Charles Webb, author of The Graduate, has sold the rights to a sequel to Random House.
It is thought Webb, who recently said he made very little money from the original, will once again feature the infamous Mrs Robinson. The book is scheduled to be published in June 2007.
Anne Bancroft, who played the ageing temptress in the film version, died in June 2005.
